There are mines all over California.  A faint remembrance of the wild west, the gold rush, and the history of a nation's push westward.  Today, the mines can be precarious in their stability though if you take the necessary safety precautions, they are worth exploring.  Be forewarned, you may hear the echo of ghosts or feel the brush of dreams as they wisp off your countenance, sighing "what could have been."
